Breastplate of Righteousnes

Having put on the breastplate of righteousness. (Ephesians 6:14)
A SWAT team is an elite tactical part of law
enforcement. They
deal with hostage rescue, as well as terrorism operations. A
SWAT team is equipped with specialized tools, including bulletproof vests. A
bulletproof vest covers the chest area, protecting life-sustaining organs,
mainly the heart and lungs.
When Satan attempts to take us hostage and
terrorize our soul, we need specialized, tactical equipment. The breastplate of
righteousness is much like a bulletproof vest, protecting against the attacks
of temptation seeking to destroy our soul. It protects right where we are most vulnerable.
Some of the attributes of righteousness are:
• Honesty
• Morals • Decency • Justice
It is easy to see why these are the places that
temptation zeroes in on. It gets right to the heart of who we are in Christ.
In the psalms, David prayed: “Create in me a clean
heart, O God.” (Psalm 51:10)
When temptation refuses to leave you alone—as if
Satan is using your mind for his own personal amusement. Remember you are the righteousness of God.
“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so
that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:21 NIV)
The path to a victorious life lies in making an
active decision to pursue righteousness. Time and time again we must say “no”
when temptation manifests in our lives, keeping our breastplate of
righteousness tight and secure.
What does the Bible say?
“... but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace
with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” (2 Timothy 2:22)
“If we
confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse
us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
“But you, O
man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love,
patience, gentleness.” (I Timothy 6:11)

Thank you Rita. It seems more and more Satan has been enjoying his battle for my thoughts. I enjoyed this post!
Love this series! Can't wait for Boots of Peace!
There is no better armor than God's Armor of truth and righteousness. I'm enjoying a bible study that is helping me to memorize verse and that is a breastplate in itself!
Lovely post, Rita!
Blessings!
This was SO good for me, coming at the right time. It's not enough to decide to say no and make a change - it's a daily battle. This is SO true: "Time and time again we must say “no” when temptation manifests in our lives, keeping our breastplate of righteousness tight and secure." Thanks for this reminder to gear up!
